The California College Promise Grant ( CCPG ), formerly called the Board of Governor's Fee Waiver (BOGW), is a state funded program available for eligible California residents and eligible AB540 students attending California community colleges.
The California College Promise Grant waives the $46 per unit enrollment fees.
The California College Promise Grant does not waive the following fees:
To apply for a California Promise Grant, and additional federal or state aid, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application.
If you paid for classes prior to receiving a California Promise Grant you will receive a refund if found eligible. The California Promise Grant program is not a cash award.
You may qualify for a California College Promise Grant under method A if:
You or your parent(s) are currently receiving TANF/Cal WORKS, SSI/SSP, General Assistance or have certification from the California Department of Veterans Affairs and can provide proof of current benefits.
You may qualify for a California College Promise Grant under method B if:
You and/or your parent(s) meet household size and state-assigned income criteria.
You may qualify for a California College Promise Grant under method C if:
You filed a FAFSA or Dream Act application, and have at least $1104 of unmet financial need. No additional application is required.
If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 for two (2) consecutive primary terms (Fall and Spring semesters are primary terms at Bakersfield College) you may lose your California Promise Grant eligibility.
If the cumulative number of courses you successfully complete falls below 50% in two (2) consecutive primary terms (Fall and Spring semesters are primary terms at Bakersfield College) you may lose your California Promise Grant eligibility.
Any combination of two consecutive terms of cumulative GPA below 2.0 and/or cumulative course completion less than 50% may result in loss of California Promise Grant eligibility.
Note: You will be notified within 30 days of the end of each term if you are being placed on either Academic (GPA) and/or Progress (Course Completion) probation. Your notification will include the information that a second term of probation will result in a loss of California Promise Grant eligibility. After the second consecutive term of Probation, you may lose eligibility for the California Promise Grant at your next registration opportunity.
